We're Not There Yet!

Some people claim that we already have a scientific description of enlightenment or that technologies currently exist which dramatically accelerate it.  No way.

The depth of paradigm and the power of technology that I envisage would have stunning global consequences within a few generations of its creation.

Until that’s happening, we ain’t there. (Law of contraposition: (A→B) → (~B→~A) If A implies B, then not B implies not A.)

A true science and technology of enlightenment would dramatically and reliably transform the majority of its users. They in turn would almost certainly recruit other users, causing a rapid, viral spread over the planet.

If a process is not deep enough and reliable enough to guarantee global, viral spread, then it’s not deep enough or reliable enough to be called a true science/technology of enlightenment. Until 106-9 people worldwide have experienced “stream entry” (a permanent state of no self/big self), we ain’t there.

Currently we’re at the Galileo stage of this program, not the Hubble stage. But being on the ground floor is fulfilling in its own way.

“…it is quite possible that in contact with western science, and inspired by the spirit of history, the original teaching of Gautama, revived and purified, may yet play a large part in the direction of human destiny.”

--H.G. Wells, 1920

“…it is reasonable that in contact with modern science, and inspired by the spirit of history, the original discoveries of Gautama, rigorized and extended, will play a large part in the direction of human destiny.”

  1. Perhaps some day we'll reverse engineer the portions of the brain responsible for awakening, and then you can download it like an app. I wonder how many people would be interested in it, though...

  2. Put a picture of a French supermodel on the cover of the app and it will spread wide enough... pun not intended...

  3. What if said technology was illegal?

  4. Is that what Ken Kesey, Jerry Garcia, Timothy Leary, and Ram Dass thought LSD was going to do to the planet in the '60's in *The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test*? They used to say it was a "foretaste of enlightenment" but then you had to come back & learn to do it on your own, without the external "sacrament"; I saw Kesey asked why it didn't work & we didn't take over & turn on the world, "we ran out". (1 possible answer)

  5. Is it possible that one of the reasons Jesus was crucified is because He was Enlightened? & the Apostles and Early Christians? or even all the Martyrs?

  6. I like this idea of jesus being enlightened to be killed.I think this is correct. people couldn't bear the idea that you can get to the level of jesus. due to mans lazy nature and enlightenment requiring a lot of work. I also think there can't be technology that will help us do that. if its too easy it will become boring. there will be no self, no one will fight for survival. because this life will mean nothing. and there would be no gene competition. all theories would lose their power. Man would no longer be attracted to woman strong enough to fight over her with another guy. procreation would stop. human world would end and there would nothing be left but consciousness and no humans. only monkeys. so why would you want technology like that. this world is perfect as it is. its about sharing love right? so it must take work, determination and guts to do it. like jesus type of guts and that means ego- and in case of jesus physical death. :-O
